She went to Yale University New Haven Connecticut earning a bachelor's diploma (1980) with a major in African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale and, in 1997 they got married. Qualification: B.A. BA. (Afro-American Studies) in the year 1980. An M.A. in Fine Arts (Drama) from Yale School of Drama School.
