Angela Evelyn Bassett has been an American actress since late 1980s. She is known for her roles in film and television in the 1980s, she's been awarded numerous awards including two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is originally from New York New York. She was raised at Winston-Salem North Carolina. At the age of Bassett was around five the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where they lived with their mother who had been divorced from her father. Bassett saw James Earl Jones in John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men play while she was still in highschool and realized that she was an actor and would like to be doing. When she graduated of Yale University New Haven Connecticut in 1980, with a Bachelor's Degree of African American Studies, she was able to obtain a Master's Degree (1983) at the Yale School of Drama. She was introduced to Courtney B. Vance, another actress from Yale and they married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's degree on African American studies, in the year 1980.
